Qing Ai is an Associate Professor of Film Studies at the School of Media & Design, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. She is Vice-director of Department of Film and Television of SMD and Committee Member of Youth Seminar of Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art. She received a bachelor degree in Chinese Language and Literature from East China Normal University, China, and a PhD in Film and Literature Study from Fudan University, China. She has worked as a visiting Scholar in East Asia Program at Cornell University, United States (2013- 2014).

Dr. Ai’s current research interests cover Chinese film history, film and urban study, and comparative film studies, and she has published more than 10 articles in these areas. She was awarded the Outstanding PhD Dissertation Prize given by Shanghai Educational Committee and Shanghai Degree Committee in 2012.
