Dr. Mou is an associate professor (tenured) at the school of media and communication in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Before she joined SJTU in July 2015, she had taught as an assistant professor in Macau University of Science & Technology from 2012 to 2015. Dr. Mou obtained her B.S. in Chemistry, M.A. in Chemistry, and M.A. in Communication from University of Science &   Technology of China, Boston University (U.S.), and Michigan State University (U.S.), respectively. She worked under the guidance of Dr. Carolyn A. Lin before she obtained her Ph.D. in Communication from University of Connecticut (U.S.) in 2012.

Dr. Mou’s primary research interests include new media study and human-machine communication. She has published papers in prominent communication journals such as New Media & Society, Political Communication, and Science Communication, etc. She also serves as   an invited reviewer for numerous academic journals. Her work has won top faculty paper awards at international conferences such as the NCA and AEJMC conferences.
